Ms Y Elcock
When Rachael said she could support us with a full interior design service for the complete refurbishment of our ground floor flat in a Grade II listed building, at the start of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in south-west Cornwall, we were delighted. And it was indeed a full interior design service and more as her colleagues supported us in receiving planning permission for both a new porch and – more recently – patio gate and wall railings.
We clicked with Rachael at the first meeting and our working relationship quickly developed into one of mutual trust. She gently challenged us away from the original 70’s brown and orange to a contemporary oceanic feel without becoming twee. The huge impact of moving a door, or dropping a ceiling, or fitting bespoke joinery and lighting to visually separate living space was something she consistently proved and really brought a building plan to life with her mood boards.
She also project managed the building crew and other contractors as we were 300 miles away in the Midlands and we started during early COVID-19 times – a complex project, therefore.
Yes, we sparked a couple of times as is the dynamics of a client/professional services provider relationship. We could not have achieved what we did without her and would highly recommend her to others.
Thank you to the Quay Studio team.

Quay Studio turned our vague and contradictory brief into a brilliant design that’s received many compliments from residents and visitors – and our staff love it, too! The design is light, airy and welcoming and complements the more traditional elements of the library building - a long-overdue facelift on a much-loved friend that could only have been done by a professional firm capable of understanding and interpreting our needs.
Working with Rachael was a real pleasure. They are positive, flexible and responsive; seeing opportunities and solutions in challenging situations. We moved pretty much effortlessly from brief to design delivery – not because there weren’t snags, but because they dealt with them professionally and with sustained focus.
I would highly recommend Quay Studio, and welcome anybody to come and view the work in the town’s public library.

Rachael of Quay Design is brilliant at turning your vague optimistic brief into a reality that is understood by builders and planning alike.
Zero-ing on the details and offering a wealth of knowledge on local trades and professionals whom can push your project along, has proved invaluable.
Finding creative solutions, that have integrity and most importantly work on a practical level is one of her strengths.
Rachael has a strong understanding of how Planning works and has shown much commitment and tenaciousness as I have been confounded by its Byzantine ways!
Quay Studios clearly has accrued a wealth of experience with design and delivery. You very much feel in the company of experts.
The professionalism, attention to detail, and the energy to pursue your project to the end have been deeply impressive.
Without question, Quay Studio will be my go-to for my next project.
