The Mardy Inn
The Mardy Inn is set within the Welsh town of Gorseinon. This was a complete refurbishment and extension for JD Wetherspoons and was designed by Rachael whilst working for Absolute Design. Looking into the Scandinavian heritage we touched on this theme, whilst using honest local materials and furniture makers to design and make key pieces. We created an undulating wooden feature ceiling, bespoke tiled pattern floor for the bar area and bespoke chairs. Working with a graphic designer we took quotes from the famous local poet Dylan Thomas and developed a typographical style for wall features in laser cut oak.
